Planteray XO 20th Anniversary Rum: A Success Story

You're probably already familiar with our Planteray XO 20th Anniversary. Recognized and multi-awarded worldwide (with over fifty gold medals, including The Spirits Business Awards in 2022 and RumXP in Miami in 2017), this extra old Barbadian rum was initially created in 2009 to honour Alexandre Gabriel's 20 years as Master Blender of Maison Ferrand. This blend of column and pot still rum - including the famous Old Gregg from Stade's West Indies Rum Distillery dating back to 1850 - has become an iconic reference over time with unwavering success, conceived as a tribute to double aging, the true signature of our Planteray rums.

Indeed, at Planteray, our DNA is built on double aging, an ancestral technique we aim to preserve. That's why, after tropical aging, we proceed with continental aging. Thanks to the significant temperature variation between tropical and continental climates, the tannins integrate perfectly..

A New Permanent Edition Finished in Pedro Ximenez Casks

Now, our Planteray XO 20th Anniversary takes on a new dimension: a Pedro Ximenez cask finish! Specifically, this new permanent edition begins with tropical aging in American white oak barrels at Stade's West Indies Rum Distillery, then continues its maturation in the continental climate of Charentes, before completing its finish in casks that previously held Pedro Ximenez from Andalusia. These casks bring a subtle depth that enhances its delicious aromas.

"Our choice to enhance our Planteray XO 20th Anniversary with Pedro Ximenez casks celebrates an ancient tradition that deepens the rum's aromatic profile with unique notes. Our commitment to craftsmanship drives us to explore various aging methods. This Pedro Ximenez cask finish demonstrates our desire to offer connoisseurs an exceptional tasting experience." - Alexandre Gabriel

The tasting reveals initial notes of coconut, chocolate, and pastry cream. These are complemented by aromas of coffee, raisin, and a touch of lemon. Subsequently, notes of plum, almond, cherry, ginger, and sweet spices appear, with hints of brine, adding a tangy complexity to a long and indulgent finish.

This new edition, like the original XO 20th Anniversary, is presented in a package worthy of its status: an elegant decanter adorned with its iconic Madagascar raffia and protected by a case whose patterns are already an invitation to travel.

Exceptional tasting experiences await!
