At the beginning of this year, one of our major projects is to be able to welcome you to ARS in April, at the Château de Bonbonnet. The plans for our new cathedral distillery were all designed by Alexandre Gabriel and our in-house team at Maison Ferrand is in charge of the construction work!
A major project
Among the highlights of the project:
- A citrus greenhouse: this 350m² space, under an arched vault, will house a collection of citrus and aromatic plants used in our gin recipes. This architectural building, with an all-glass, ultra-bright roof, will be equipped with modern technology such as temperature control, motorised openings and a shade sail that will automatically operate according to the weather to protect the plants from the sun during hot spells. Windows will also be installed to provide fresh air for our orange and lemon trees.
- The courtyard and forecourt of the Château will also receive special attention, with renovations that respect the authenticity of the site while introducing fine materials such as local Charente stone.
- A copper bar, for which we have just received the horseshoe-shaped counter, was designed by our teams. It will be stocked with Citadelle Gin straight from the distillery's vat house, so we won't have to use glass bottles (every gesture counts!).
- A boutique: due to be completed by the end of March, it will have a stone floor with blue granite cabochons. To complete the picture, the entrance will be decorated with real stills, meticulously varnished, which were actually used for distillation and are therefore steeped in history. There will also be a fountain where visitors can refill their empty bottles with fresh gin, again in an environmentally responsible move.
Towards an imminent opening
This ambitious project, which is not without its challenges, particularly in terms of managing various materials such as stone, glass and wood, will be completed at the end of March.
Everything is being done to ensure that these new spaces are ready to welcome visitors from the beginning of April for an immersive experience "from the berry to the bottle", from our 12 hectares of juniper trees to the bar, including, of course, the art of distillation.
We can't wait to share this new chapter in our history with you and let you enjoy this unique taste and sensory adventure!
In the meantime, stay tuned for our next announcements and get ready to (re)discover Maison Ferrand like never before!
