Ferrand Cognac is proud to present the Renegade Barrel No. 4, a spirit that, after aging for many years in the cellars of the Maison in Charente under the care of our Master Blender, Alexandre Gabriel, has embarked on a journey to the tropical shores of Barbados.

A meeting of Cognac and Barbados, inspired by the 19th Century

With the fourth edition of its Renegade Barrel collection, Maison Ferrand aims to continue surprising you with new and unexpected flavors.

Drawing inspiration from the 19th-century tradition of "Early Landed" cognacs—when barrels were sent abroad, notably to England, to age along the banks of the Thames—Alexandre Gabriel has reimagined this practice with a vibrant tropical twist. This time, barrels of Ferrand Cognac Grande Champagne Premier Cru, distilled in 2014, left Charente to continue their maturation under the generous sun and humidity of the Caribbean. Housed in the cellars of the Stade’s West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, these barrels benefit from the attentive supervision of our local team, delighted to see another spirit aging before their eyes besides their beloved rum!

This double aging imparts a unique richness and aromatic intensity to this spirit, amplified by an angel's share reaching up to 10% in the tropical climate, compared to an average of 3% in Charente.

A unique flavor palette

Renegade Barrel No. 4 offers a rich and refined experience. On the nose, fruity notes of peach, apricot, mandarin, and guava blend with the depth of fig and honeysuckle, while vanilla and saffron add subtle elegance. On the palate, light smoky notes open up to aromas of hazelnut and cocoa. Tropical fruits and quince paste bring an exotic sweetness, balanced by candied ginger, sesame, and a harmony of spices like black pepper. The finish is remarkably long, allowing flavors of praline chocolate, peach, cooked agave, coconut, cardamom, and allspice to unfold.

Each sip takes you on a journey, balancing the continental sweetness with the vibrant energy of the tropics.
